Starting a board conversation properly

If you are a chair, nomination committee member or search adviser considering an outside director, please tell me what the company does, how it uses customer data today and which committee the seat would join. A few lines about the board's current composition would help me judge whether my experience adds something different. Please do not send customer records, partner contracts or internal audit findings at this stage; those belong in a confidential process once both sides wish to continue.
