What the weekly rota tells someone about working here
I use the fictional two-depot review to examine predictability as part of the employment offer. The discussion starts with the consequences of a late change for an employee and then follows the decision back to cover, authority and commercial demand. Participants distinguish exceptional disruption from recurring variability that the staffing model has not funded. We examine the twelve relief positions, the annual cost and the limits of the observed change in rota revisions. I also ask where relief can actually be used, because a central headcount total may not match the location or capability required. The session does not prescribe transport hours or local employment terms. It is a management discussion about what the company can commit to, what uncertainty remains and how an employee receives an accountable explanation. Participants should leave with questions for their own operating review rather than a universal model copied from an invented company.
