Sheet 09 · The boardroom
Collective oversight needs the relationships behind the freight headline.
I would help a board examine the commercial relationships concealed by an aggregate freight figure. A movement total can leave its direction unclear, a sector label can hide seasonal concentration and a forecast can acquire the meaning of a commitment as it passes between papers. I would ask which question the measure answers and how it relates to the choice being requested. The contribution would depend on operating, commercial, financial and professional evidence, with those owners retaining responsibility for their actual work.
The return-market case would make the other direction of a growth proposal visible. Forty-eight weekly outbound departures sat beside eleven initial return bookings on the fictional corridor. A six-month ₹3.8 crore pilot preceded a decision on a ₹64 crore depot proposal. Twenty-three weekly bookings in the final eight weeks were progress, not complete balance. I would want directors to hear the argument for earlier physical presence and understand what the pilot added, without inferring profitability or service suitability from the improved count alone.
Sector expansion would require a different reading. The consumer-packaging proposal modelled ₹180 crore annual revenue with 62% of forecast activity in an existing October–December peak. I would ask whether the institution wants that overlap and why, rather than treat a new sector as sufficient evidence of diversification. Prioritising the ₹92 crore industrial-spares model gave up a larger headline; ₹27 crore actual FY 2018-19 service income from four customers was a narrower realised result. The board should keep the attraction, pattern and outcome in their separate meanings.
The shipper case would make me attentive to how a number changes status through repetition. A 90000-tonne forecast and a 54000-tonne stated minimum described different parts of the proposal. The two-year agreement signed in 2022 followed negotiation around the narrower basis, with ₹1.4 crore preparation expense. I would ask which figure the investment account uses and seek the authorised owners' explanation of the agreement. A signed scope should not be presented as freight already moved or revenue already earned.
My own circuit error would matter to my response to challenge. I had used 480 loaded legs out of 720 to imply two-thirds balanced circuits. The actual 360 circuits comprised 120 loaded both ways and 240 loaded one way. Mihira Dervankar's challenge required a corrected one-third circuit measure and ₹32 lakh review. I would expect a colleague to question a familiar headline if the unit does not support its meaning. The appropriate response is to make the distinction visible, including to people who relied on my earlier interpretation.
A branch closure would bring the network beyond the local account into view. The coastal branch's ₹36 crore annual revenue did not describe its whole relationship with an inland circuit receiving six weekly return loads. Closing the branch in January 2026 while establishing three-town partner collection by June retained a specific connection with ₹2.6 crore twelve-month support. I would ask whether the continuing arrangement has a bounded purpose and whether the institution understands the coordination it has chosen to keep. No aggregate saving or unchanged performance follows automatically from the closure.
My exposure is executive presentation to the board from March 2021, with no statutory director service. A first appointment would require induction, preparation and an assessment of how my experience complements the board. I would consider strategy or investment participation where appropriate but claim no specialist committee-chair competence. Twenty-four annual days would be provisional, subject to employer permission and the real demands of the role. Promoter, investor, shipper, carrier and partner relationships would need confidential review for the proposed institution.
This is an invented leadership record, including every company and outcome. It claims no Indian databank registration, exemption or general determination of independence. An actual Indian appointment would require current attention to its applicable conditions and appropriate professional advice. The page offers a prospective contribution and its limits, not a transport, legal or financial service. I would want the nomination discussion to assess both the useful questions I can bring and the knowledge I still need to acquire before sharing responsibility for another institution.
On governance
I look for the commercial purpose of the journey after the first delivery. An outbound opportunity can be attractive while its return depends on a market the company has barely examined. Adding another sector does not diversify demand if its busy period coincides with the existing peak. My contribution is to make direction, timing and commitment status part of the growth choice. I want the network to be explained as a set of freight relationships, not only as vehicles, depots and a total amount moved.

Contact
I would explore a strategic discussion about directional demand, sector mix or the commercial assumptions of a freight network. A possible first-board opportunity would require preparation, employer permission, conflict review and realistic availability. This fictional person offers no transport operation or contract advice. A genuine introduction should set out the network question through an approved route, leaving shipper terms, driver information and restricted operating records within their authorised processes.
