I would welcome a conversation about a property operating mandate where the owner wants a closer connection between portfolio reporting and the experience inside occupied buildings. The useful starting material would describe the assets, the current service responsibilities and the decisions management is finding difficult to explain. I would want to understand the existing technical and commercial authorities before proposing an operating response. A first-board opportunity could also merit discussion where practical asset-service experience would improve oversight, subject to employer clearance, conflicts, preparation and the actual time required. I would not use an introductory conversation to review confidential tenant information or give an unsupported opinion about a building’s technical condition.
