What to tell me before we speak

In a regional airline the costs that wreck a year are fuel, engines and weather, so I give each one a named owner before it arrives.

If you chair a nomination committee or advise one, I would be glad to hear about a non-executive seat that fits the Board Readiness page. Before we speak, it would help to know four things: what the company does and where it earns its revenue, which committees the board wants to strengthen, the meeting calendar for the coming year, and any dealings the company has with Saltbush, its resources customers, its lessors or its fuel suppliers. With those I can check conflicts and my diary before taking up your time.

I also enjoy comparing notes with other CFOs and committee members on fuel hedging, lease and return-condition accounting, and contract indexation, and I accept a small number of invitations to speak to finance or governance audiences.

There are conversations I cannot have. I will not discuss Saltbush's results before they are released, its fleet negotiations or anything else that could be price-sensitive, and I do not take calls about investing in the company. I am not considering executive roles while the fleet plan is unfinished. Please use the contact details on this page; I answer each message myself, usually within a week.
