Chief Operating Officer Australia
Write to me about boards, operations or a talk
A private hospital's operating plan is largely written in its insurer contracts, so the people who run its wards and theatres should help write them.
If you chair or advise the board of an aged-care, disability, community-health or primary-care organisation and wonder whether a hospital operator would strengthen it, I would like to hear from you; the same goes for a search partner acting for such a board. A useful first note names the organisation, its main funders, the committee where you see a gap and the size of the year's calendar. Please mention any business it does with Kelvarra Health, with a health insurer or with a Queensland or New South Wales public health service, because those relationships decide whether I could serve before anything else does.
People running hospitals, day-surgery units or regional health services are welcome to get in touch to swap methods. Theatre allocation, partnerships with public hospitals and rehearsing paper downtime are where I most want to hear how others have done it. I also give a handful of talks each year to clinicians, hospital managers and directors on how funding contracts shape care on the ward.
Some subjects stay closed. Live negotiations with insurers or governments, individual patients and Kelvarra's purchasing are not mine to discuss here, and suppliers should approach our procurement team directly. While my current programme at Kelvarra runs, executive approaches will go unanswered. Every reply comes from me, normally inside a fortnight.
