Tell me who the company serves

A useful first message tells me three things: who the company serves, why the board wants another director now and which committee the seat would join. A short description of the customers, particularly whether children, older people or paying relatives are among them, helps me judge relevance quickly. Please do not send member data, complaint files or unpublished product plans at this stage; those belong in a confidential process if a conversation continues. Because I am an executive at Fenqiluo Learning, I would raise any approach with our chief executive and review relationships before meeting a chair. I welcome introductions from chairs, nomination committees and authorised search advisers.
