Begin with the customers the board worries about

If you are a chair, a company secretary or a search adviser considering an independent director, I would like to know which customers the board is worried about and why. A short note describing the company, its customer channels and the committee you have in mind is enough to start. I would also need to know early whether the company has any relationship with gold lending, jewellery or the vendors my employer uses, because that will decide whether we can continue. I welcome invitations to speak with product or service teams about assisted journeys and vernacular notices, provided they are not sales approaches. I do not take consulting assignments while employed.
