Chief Operating Officer India

Conversations I welcome, and those I must decline

A policy is sold in minutes and kept over the days a claim takes, so I run an insurer's operations by the clock the policyholder is watching.

Two kinds of approach are most useful to me. The first comes from a nomination committee chair or search partner considering me for an independent directorship of the kind I describe under Board Readiness: a listed business outside insurance with many retail customers, where service operations, complaints and outsourcing deserve closer attention from the board. A first note that names the company, the committee roles involved and how often the board meets, and that mentions any dealings with Nilakhya, our promoter group or insurance distribution, lets me clear conflicts before anyone spends time on a call. The second comes from operations and claims leaders who want to compare how they handle catastrophe surges, hospital networks or grievance panels, and from organisers who want a speaker on operations.

I must decline some subjects: individual claims and policyholders, Nilakhya's unreported results, our negotiations with hospitals, administrators or reinsurers, and anything price-sensitive. A policyholder with a claim or complaint will get a faster answer through Nilakhya's published grievance channels, where the people empowered to resolve it can act. I am not open to executive moves while the group health decision is pending. Messages sent through this site reach me directly, and I try to answer within seven working days.
