Please begin with the company, the board's present composition and the reason it wants a director with store and customer-data experience. If the seat is on an audit and supervisory committee, tell me who else sits on it and what the committee has found difficult. I read introductions from chairs, nomination committees and search firms acting for a named company; I will not respond to unnamed opportunities passed through several hands. Please do not send system designs, security reports or customer data at this stage; a confidential process can follow if both sides wish. Supplier proposals, sales enquiries for Kusunomi Drug and questions about prescriptions or a particular store should go to the company's own teams, who will answer faster than I can. I reply within two weeks, say frankly if a seat does not suit my time or relationships, and mention any consent I would need from my president.
